The Cardinals clinched a CIF-SS Div. 5 playoff spot with a three-set sweep of St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20.
“Credit to St. Bonaventure who made the trip a little shorthanded tonight,” Bishop Diego coach Dillan Bennett said. “This is a tough match to play without two starters who would have made a difference.
“Their top outside hitter gave us all we could handle, and we’re grateful to have put together a good match on our side of the net. We look forward to another trip to the postseason and a little bit of rest this weekend.”
John Michael Flint’s 11 kills led the charge while both Nick Malesky and Leshawn Cruz hammered seven kills.
Will Neubauer facilitated the offense and ended with 18 assists and four aces. Harry Hayman led the defense with eight digs.
The Cardinals finish the year with an 18-16 mark overall and a 6-4 record against league opponents.
