Laguna Blanca football dominated defensively and quarterback Spencer Hlavaty totaled three touchdowns en route to a 22-0 win over Villanova Prep on Friday.

“We had several of our key players out this game, but our team rallied and did their jobs,” Laguna Blanca coach Matthew Escobar said. “It’s always good to see a team rally and play for each other, especially the ones that are unfortunately out.”

The first score of the game came in the second quarter when Hlavaty found Nahum-Issac Duron-Angeles for a 20-yard pitch and catch. The 6-0 score held until halftime thanks in part to the Laguna Blanca defensive line, led by Eka Nayak, Carson Stewart and Ganden Walker.

After a scoreless third quarter, Hlavaty found Mason Siegel for a 23-yard touchdown pass to put the Owls up 12-0.

Later in the quarter, linebacker Jules Leqerc came away with an interception to set up Hlavaty and the offense to put the finishing touches on the win.

“I thought the defense, led by my assistants, Harrison Crowley and Mike Green, did an exceptional job getting our defense in position to make crucial stops,” Escobar said.

Hlavaty ran in a touchdown from seven yards out and the successful two-point conversion clinched the 22-0 victory.

The Owls will play host to Malibu on Friday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
