Laguna Blanca girls volleyball turned in a strong showing at the Morro Bay “Rumble at the Rock” tournament this weekend.
The Owls ended with a 4-2 record, collecting wins over Sanger West, Righetti, Stockdale and Rio Mesa.
“It was a fun experience for us to get out of town and play some teams we wouldn’t normally see,” Laguna Blanca head coach Tanner Stevens said.
“This group has so much fun together and plays with lots of joy, which makes tournaments fun to watch as they learn to work through different situations and support one another even after playing eight-plus matches in five days.”
Marriott Blabey and Emma Bouvat-Merlin turned in big weekends with 62 and 41 digs, respectively. Meanwhile, Catherine Blabey and Eva Gershman had good defensive performances as well.
Lauren Kenny racked up 39 kills for the Owls on the outside, while Greta Alldredge dominated in the middle with 31 kills.
Laguna Blanca will return to league action by hosting Foothill Tech on Tuesday.
