Santa Ynez’s Landon Lassahn scored seven goals in a 16-1 romp at home over Malibu Thursday.
The Pirates might have had a shutout, but the Waves managed a goal in the fourth period.
Santa Ynez goalie Hale Durbiano had 12 saves and three assists.
Logan Woodall and Cristian Sotelo added two goals apiece for Santa Ynez, and Zack Bennett, Cooper Haws, Anthony Orozco, Ernie Suarez, and Bennett Thorne had one goal each.
“I was extremely happy with the integrity and teamwork that our team showed today,” Pirates coach Jake Kalkowski said. “The guys worked extremely well together on both ends of the pool, especially on defense.
“Malibu is a very well coached team, and to hold them to only one goal was a great accomplishment. It’s been a very difficult week for our entire team and to show up like they did today meant a lot to all of us.”
Santa Ynez plays at Righetti on Tuesday, starting at 5 p.m.
