Las Aletas, an auxiliary of Assistance League Santa Barbara, recently donated $5,000 to the Goleta Valley Library as part of Operation Bookshelf. The program has provided reading opportunities to homebound individuals in the community since 1976.

Las Aletas members deliver books, DVDs, and audio books to patrons who otherwise have no access to library services.

Patrons are referred by Las Aletas and Assistance League of Santa Barbara members, the Goleta Public Library staff, local assisted-living directors, and the community at large.

In support of the service and in recognition of its importance to the community, the Assistance League of Santa Barbara supports Operation Bookshelf with an annual donation to the Goleta Public Library.

Funding supports the purchase of large-print books and expanding library resources. Las Aletas has supported 16 patrons in 2022-23.
