There is plenty of boys lacrosse talent to go around in the Santa Barbara area, and it was on full display for the 2024 spring season.

That talent was awarded for their efforts with All-Channel League honors, which were led by the undefeated league champion Dos Pueblos Chargers.

Cal Denier was at the forefront of Dos Pueblos’ success, excelling as the team’s face-off specialist. He consistently battled and earned the Chargers extra possessions, resulting in him being named the Channel League MVP.

Most Dos Pueblos possessions began with a faceoff win from Denier and ended with a goal by Daniel Finneran, who led the league in goals, assists and points. With his stellar numbers, Finneran earned the Offensive Player of the Year award.

While the first-place Chargers took home a pair of individual awards, so did the Cate Rams, who finished second in the league.

Senior Kristian Scurtis was a strong force on the defensive end of the field, which led him to be named the Channel League Defensive Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, senior Burak Yanar backed up Scurtis as the team’s goalkeeper all season long to pick up the league’s Goalie of the Year honor.

The Chargers turned in their best season ever this spring, going 8-0 for a Channel League title and reaching the CIF-SS Semifinals for the first time in program history.

As a result of the team’s success, Dos Pueblos head coach Lucas Martinez was named the Channel League Coach of the Year.

Denier and Daniel Finneran clearly played huge roles in that success, and they were joined by Jack Finneran, Gus Miller and Orion Prewarski on the All-League First Team.

The Rams had a strong season of their own, going 6-2 with their two losses coming at the hands of the Chargers.

Yanar and Scurtis added All-League First Team honors on top of their individual awards, and they weren’t the only Cate representatives on that squad.

The duo of Cody Mast and Elliott Murray Osborn also were key pieces of the Rams team and were named to the All-League First Team.
