Chaucer’s Books will host local kid’s book author Taran Collis for a reading and signing of her book “Dinosaur Have Big Feelings Too,” 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 at Chaucers, 3321 State St., Santa Barbara.

In Collis’ book, Rex the T-rex is having a big feeling day. With the help from his friends, Rex learns the Finger Holds to help manage his emotions. This technique is great for everyone so they can be in control of their feelings before they control you.

This is the first of a three-book series tailored for young readers, parents and educators.

“Dinosaurs Have Big Feelings Too” guides all ages through mindfulness techniques that bring calmness and joy to their minds.

Through these adventure stories, mindfulness practices, and self-affirmations, children explore Finger Holds to manage emotions, learn the art of belly breathing, build confidence with visualizations, and learn how to get their inner roar out.

Collis has been teaching therapeutic yoga and wellness education for over 20 years. Her passion is educating adults and children through multicultural practices that inspire a love for self-care.

She enjoys creating mindfulness stories and guided imagery that spark joy and imagination in young and older readers.

Collis’ books, including “Dinosaurs Have BIG Feelings Too,” are known for their engaging characters, playful rhyming, and heartwarming messages.
