Defending champion Leo Metzger moved into the lead after two rounds at the Santa Barbara City Golf Championship at the par-70 Santa Barbara Golf Club.
Metzger shot a 4-under par 66 on Sunday, giving him a 36-hole total of 6-under 134. He holds a one-stroke lead over Johnny Brandt of Glendale and Santa Barbara’s Alec Constantinides.
Constantinides had the low round of the day with a 65.
Lako Losarah of Pomona’s Mountain Meadows Golf Club is two shots back at 136 after his second straight 68.
First-round leader Ryan Gay is one of six golfers tied at 137. The others are Mitch Martin, Cooper Groshart, Price Ferchill, Shams Jahangir-Arshad and Murphy Scott. Jahangir-Arshad and Metzger are teammates on San Marcos High’s CIF-SS Division 2 championship golf team. He shot a 67 on Sunday as did Ferchill (Austin, Texas) and Scott (Lake Tahoe).
Also under par are Connor McManigal at 138 and Brett Patton and Drew Miller at 139.
The cut for the championship flight was 144.
For Monday’s final round, the leaders will tee off at 9:45 a.m.
In the net-scoring flights, Steven Trider is the leader of the Hogan Flight at 146; Arief Norman tops the Nicklaus Flight at 2-under 138; Ewoud Tsas shot a 69 to take the lead in the Palmer Flight with a 143; Sheri Dean leads the Women’s Flight at 149, one shot better than Heather McGinnis.
