Top local high school golfers Leo Metzger and Teddy Vigna finished in a tie for eighth place in the two-day Santa Barbara Classic over the weekend.
The pair shared the lead after the first round Saturday, shooting an 8-under 62 in the two-man, best-ball tournament. They shot 2-under 68 Sunday for an overall 130 in the gross-scoring Santa Cruz Championship Flight.
Metzger is a senior at San Marcos, and Vigna, a sophomore at Dos Pueblos.
The winners were team of Martin and Smith, with a 63-61—124.
The Men’s Net Division was one by Steve Carter and Tanner Bickelhaupt of Forest Highlands with a 64-63—127.
The Santa Rosa Flight was won by Darren Taylor, of The Oaks Golf Club, and David Hurlbut, of Lakewood Men’s Golf Club, with a 62-68—130.
The Women’s Division was won by Sheri Benninghoven and Sheri Dean of the Santa Barbara Women’s Golf Club with a 72-68—140.
