San Marcos junior Leo Metzger took medalist honors for the second time in as many days Thursday, shooting a 2-under 70 at the Mission Club to lead a 401-512 Channel League match over Cabrillo.
Metzger, the defending Channel League individual champion, had an eagle and three birdies in his round. Shams Jahangir-Arshad and Jeffrey Foster both shot 76 for the Royals.
San Marcos is now 3-1 in league play and 5-1 overall, having lost for the first time this season Wednesday, to Dos Pueblos. Metzger medaled in that match with a 3-under 69 at Sandpiper.
“I was really proud of how our team bounced back from yesterday, not only in their golf scores, but in their morale and camaraderie,” San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton said.
He gave a shout-out to freshman Aaron White, who “played in his second varsity match today and played very solid on a tough course to make the top 5 scores for his first time.”
