Sophomore Leo Metzger and freshman Shams Jahangir-Arshard each shot 74 to share medalist honors in San Marcos’ 407-510 non-league boys golf win over Rio Mesa at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo on Tuesday.
“None of the boys had played Spanish Hills prior to this match and it is a very narrow and demanding course,” said coach Jeff Ashton. “I was incredibly proud of all of them for their play today, as it is also a very tough course to walk 18 holes, and it took over five hours for some groups to finish the match.”
Freshman Brody Ricci has his best round in a high school match, shooting an 86. Freshman Jeffrey Forster birdied the last two holes, making a 30-foot putt on the 18th, to finish with an 81.
San Marcos is 5-0 overall.
