San Marcos’ Leo Metzger shot a 3-under 67 at Buenaventura Golf Course to take medalist honors Tuesday in a 388-404 win over Ventura.
“Buenaventura can sometimes play easy, but it was windy out there today and the greens were firm and fast making for a tougher day than expected,” Royals coach Jeff Ashton said. “It was a pretty close match as Ventura has six seniors that are all quality golfers, but we were happy to escape with the win.”
Jeffrey Forster shot a 75 for San Marcos and Shams Jahangir-Arshad 76.
The Royals, 2-0, open Channel League play Thursday against Santa Ynez at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.
