Leo Metzger’s 4-under par 66 at Santa Barbara Golf Club led the San Marcos golf team to a 365-411 win over Santa Barbara on Tuesday in a Chaannel League match.
Metzger made the turn at 4 under after birdies on Nos. 3 and 7 and and eeagle on No. 9. He bogeyed 12 but bounced back with a bird on the 15th hole to finish with the best score of the day.
The Royals got a strong round from freshman Graham Chapman. He shot a personal-best 73.
“I’m so proud of Graham, who shot a 73,” said Metzger. “His game was fantastic, and seeing him improve over the course of the season has been incredible.”
The entire five-player lineup for the Royals shot in the 70s. The Royals improved to 8-1 in Channel League and 11-1 overall.
Thomas Macintosh shot a 70 for Santa Barbara.
