The Santa Barbara Public Library (SBPL) invites community members to carry a piece of local art in their pockets with three new library card designs created as part of National Library Card Sign-Up Month in September.

Each of the new library card designs features the work of a local artist and honors the communities the library serves.
The new cards are available at all SBPL locations and the Library on the Go. Attendees can sign up for new cards, explore library resources, connect with fellow library lovers, and win prizes.

Featured artists and their designs are:
D.J. Javier — a special edition card that blends the city’s coastal spirit with the love for reading.
Jeremy Harper — a painting of Butterfly Beach at sunset that celebrates the Montecito Branch Library and local beaches.
Miguel Rodriguez (Omepache) — honors the Eastside Library and its residents with an image from one of his murals at Eastside Neighborhood Park.
A library card grants free access to thousands of physical books, eBooks, audiobooks, research databases, 3D printing, and the Library of Things, where patrons can borrow musical instruments, Bcycle passes, and local museum passes.
The Library on the Go will celebrate Happy Hour, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Brass Bear Brewing Uptown, 3302 McCaw Ave., Santa Barbara.
