After a week that included some gloomy weather, Santa Barbara residents can expect a bit of rain this weekend.
Chances of light rain begin late Friday evening continuing through Saturday morning, according to Bryan Lewis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
Santa Barbara County could get more rain than Ventura and Los Angeles Counties with up to a quarter of an inch of rain expected, Lewis said.
The mountain areas could get up to half an inch of rain and there’s a small chance of thunderstorms.
Santa Barbara and Santa Maria each have a forecast of a 60% chance of rain Saturday with a daytime high of 60 degrees.
Lewis warns that there could be strong winds out on the water in the Santa Barbara Channel on Sunday through Monday evening. Gusty winds are also possible along the western coast of Santa Barbara County.
A small craft advisory was in effect until 3 a.m. Friday for the east Santa Barbara Channel from Point Conception to Point Mugu, including the Channel Islands.
Warmer weather is expected to return on Sunday going into next week, with daytime high temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s near the coast, and in the mid 70s in the inland areas, according to Lewis.
