Unite to Light, a Santa Barbara-based nonprofit, is calling on artists, innovators and other creative individuals to submit light-themed art for an exhibit and fundraiser, Oct. 20-21 at the Community Arts Workshop (CAW), 631 Garden St.

The show will be part of Unite to Light the Night’s second annual fundraiser, light-art show, and community event.

Unite to Light is looking for works that celebrate and evoke the power of light, including light installations, projection art, light mapping, sculptures, interactive works, video, and augmented reality.

Unite to Light plans to offer grants to selected applicants to help cover material and equipment costs, ensuring that the exhibit is financially accessible for all artists.

Deadline for submissions is June 15, and anyone can apply.

To support the call for artists, Unite to Light will host an Exhibition Activation event, 5:30 p.m. April 18 at CAW. Artists can learn about submission requirements, tour the venue, and explore ideas for site-specific installations.

“The activation event is an opportunity for us to foster a community of creatives who are passionate about creating a unique annual exhibition that showcases the power of light and its ability to bring people together,” said Megan Birney Rudert, Unite to Light’s CEO.

Unite to Light the Night merges art, community, and social impact into immersive experiences. As a fundraiser, it supports Unite to Light’s mission to bring light and power to the billion people who live without electricity across the globe.

“We are excited to invite our creative community back for our second annual exhibition and see all the bright ideas,” Birney Rudert said. “Our hope is that each art piece will have a clear connection to the theme of light.”

Unite to Light manufactures and distributes its own lights and chargers, providing light and power to those living without electricity around the globe.

The nonprofit’s solar lights and chargers help children study at night, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, equip healthcare workers to save lives, offer disaster relief, and enable links to vital services. Visit UnitetoLight.org.
