MISSOULA, Mont. — The Montana-UC Santa Barbara women’s soccer match at South Campus Stadium on Friday evening was cancelled after 45 minutes of scoreless play.
Lightning arrived at halftime. After a number of delays, it became too dark to continue the match. The match started at 5 p.m. and was called off at 7:45 p.m.
The match will not be resumed and will go down as a no-result. NCAA Division I soccer matches need to reach a minimum of 70 minutes to be counted as an official result.
Montana travels to California on Saturday morning to face the Cal Bears on Sunday at 2 p.m. (MT). UC Santa Barbara busses to Moscow and plays Idaho on Sunday.
Both teams took five shots in the first half, putting two on goal. Claire Howard made two saves for Montana, Hanna DeWeese two for the Gauchos.
UCSB will travel to the University of Idaho on Sunday for a 12:30 p.m. match in Moscow, Idaho.
