Liza Muñoz

Liza Muñoz, 50, of Santa Barbara, died peacefully at the Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura after battling cancer. Liza is preceded in death by her mother Anita (Annie) Muñoz.

Liza was born June 27, 1973 in Santa Barbara, and was a graduate of Santa Barbara High School.

From 1997-2003 she attended San Diego State University and received her B.A. in behavioral science and Masters in forensic science. She later received her certificate in Human Resources Management and worked for Sycuan Casino Resort as an HR specialist.

While living in San Diego and attending San Diego State, Liza and her friends were founding sisters of the Sigma Theta PSI Multicultural Sorority. Liza has such a bond not only with these ladies but everyone she became friends with.

She had a heart of gold and would do anything she could to lend a helping hand. She would go out in the streets of San Diego and feed the homeless, take them care packages, anything she could do to make people feel better.

In 2023 our sister Liza decided to move closer to family and moved from San Diego to Ventura. She enjoyed hosting and having family and friends over to reminisce and make memories.

Sister, our hearts are broken but we know you are now free of pain, dancing with Mom, and will be watching over your daughter Trinity and us from heavens above.

Liza is survived by her daughter Trinity Love Muñoz; father Jose I. Muñoz, Sr.; brother Jose G. Jr., (Corina) Muñoz; sister Martha Muñoz; brother Ray (Vicky) Muñoz; brother Lalo (Stephanie) Muñoz; Sister Theresa Muñoz; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8 at the Old Mission, 2201 Laguna St., Santa Barbara, and 1 p.m. March 16 at City Church, 6360 Telephone Road, Ventura.
