San Marcos’ Austin Downing and Dos Pueblos’ Teddy Vigna shined at the CIF-SS Individual Championship on Thursday at Temecula Creek Golf Course.
The local duo finished within the top 28 of 60 golfers to punch their tickets to the SCGA Boys Golf State Qualifier next Thursday.
Downing led the charge with an impressive one-under-par 70 to keep his individual season alive. Meanwhile, his teammate Andy Keenan lost in a playoff to bring his season to a close.
Vigna wrapped up his day with a two-over-par 73 following a round that featured three birdies, which was good enough to qualify by two strokes.
