The local girls lacrosse teams turned in great seasons in 2024, and there were plenty of standout individual performers.
Those individuals were honored with end-of-year awards and All-Channel League honors. In fact, every individual award was given to a local athlete.
San Marcos’ Mia Martinez-Tomatis was named Attacker of the Year while Megan Taylor earned the title of Goalie of the Year.
Meanwhile, Cate’s Riley Pan was the league’s Midfielder of the Year and Olivia Battles of Santa Barbara High was the Defender of the Year.
San Marcos
The Royals turned in a dominant season, going a perfect 10-0 in Channel League play for the first league title in program history.
Along with their individual honors, Martinez-Tomatis and Taylor were named to the All-League First Team. Joining that pairing on the First Team were Sadi Adams and Liv Plourde.
San Marcos also had four players earn spots on the All-League Second Team in Molly McCarter, Gigi Mills, Mia Richmond and Jaymi Springer.
Rounding out the All-League honorees on the Honorable Mention list was the duo of Sophia Llewellyn and Jocelyn Duncan.
Cate School
The Rams had a successful season of their own, placing second in the Channel League with a strong record of 7-3.
Leading the charge for Cate on the All-League First Team was the standout trio of Pan, Lauren Hubbs and Maia Holmes.
There were three more Rams on the All-League Second Team, showcasing their strong talent up and down the roster. The Second Team honorees were Sam Jimenez, Lucy Guilbert-Neal and Sophia Ospina.
The final All-League honorees for Cate were the Honorable Mentions of Sanai Edwards and Sophie Alijani.
Dos Pueblos
The Chargers took home fourth place in the Channel League after finishing the season with an overall record of 7-8.
The Dos Pueblos duo of Reagan Arnold and Linnea Clapinski were at the forefront of their success all year, giving them spots on the All-League First Team.
Meanwhile, the players representing the Chargers on the All-League Second team were Eloise Shea and Hannah Martin.
Capping off the Dos Pueblos honorees as All-League honorable mentions thanks to their solid contributions throughout the year were Alice Sperling and Chloe Gotsis.
Santa Barbara High
The final local girls lacrosse team in the Channel League is the Dons, who wrapped up the year in fifth place in the league.
Battles was also named to the All-League First Team along with her individual honor, and she was joined on the team by Abigail Gaston.
On the All-League Second Team, the Santa Barbara High representatives were Katarina Olvera and Emma Hall.
The final two local All-League student-athletes were the Dons’ Aria Abraham and Ale Alcocer, who were All-League Honorable Mentions this season.
