The Santa Barbara area softball talent was on full display this spring, with all three local Channel League teams fielding several standout student-athletes who put up big numbers.
Here are the All-Channel League honorees for the Dos Pueblos Chargers, San Marcos Royals and Santa Barbara High Dons.
Dos Pueblos
The Chargers were the most successful of the local teams this year, finishing in fourth place in the Channel League and reaching the CIF-SS Division 4 Quarterfinals.
The junior duo of Anastasia Brunner and Kacey Hurley led the Dos Pueblos offensive attack all season long to earn spots on the All-League First Team.
Senior Kaitlyn Ashby and sophomore Zella Cassidy were key pieces of the team’s success as well, on their way to being named to the All-League Second Team.
Meanwhile, sophomore Brooklyn Hedricks and freshman Juliana Brunner were selected as All-League Honorable Mentions to showcase the future of the Charger program.
San Marcos
The Royals put together an 11-win season this spring, going 6-8 against Channel League opponents to finish in fifth place.
Junior Solana Sandoval was the focal point of the San Marcos offense all year and was rewarded with an All-League First Team selection.
Sophomores Lucy Dessert and Isa Malarkey gave the Royals a lot to look forward to in the next two years after their All-League Second Team seasons.
Senior Kayla Aguilar and junior Reese Large rounded out the San Marcos honorees by garnering All-League Honorable Mention nods.
Santa Barbara High
While the Dons struggled in league play, they put together several strong non-league victories thanks to the performances of some standout student-athletes.
Senior Alina Magdaleno turned in a strong final high school season and was the team’s All-League First Team representative.
Meanwhile, sophomore Laila Hernandez provided strong production on both sides of the ball en route to earning a spot on the All-League Second Team.
The senior pairing of Ava Karman and Aleeya Zaragoza capped off their high school careers as All-League Honorable Mentions.
