Part of the strict membership requirements to be a chartered Boys & Girls Club organization are annual external safety inspections from a member of the national staff.
On July 17-18 Boys & Girls Clubs of America performed their annual safety inspections of the United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara facilities and the results ranked United Boys & Girls Clubs in the top tier of all organizations for safety according to the assessment.
“We take the safety of our members and staff very seriously and I am thrilled with the results of this assessment,” said Michael Baker, CEO of the United Boys & Girls Clubs.
”I am very proud of our staff, and as a volunteer board member and chair of the safety committee I have seen first-hand the time and effort everyone puts into making sure all our clubs are safe for the youth we serve,” said Jim Turner.

The United Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara County serves some 3,000 youth per day. The club’s mission is to empower all young people, especially those in greatest need, to reach their full potential by promoting their healthy social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
