Five local golfers failed to advance at the CIF-SS Northern Individual Tournament at Soule Park in Ojai on Monday.
Melia Haller, the Channel League champion, had the lowest score of the local players with an 80. Teammate Lizzie Goss shot an 84, Bishop Diego’s Marisa Mancinelli carded an 86 and Alex Manion of San Marcos and Morgan Blunt of Santa Ynez each shot 89.
Santa Ynez coach Sara Ovadia said Morgan’s score was a personal best and “the lowest round for our school in the last decade.”
The cutoff for advancement to the CIF-SS Finals was 77.
The event was won by Meg Yoshida of Palos Verdes with a 1-under 70. She was followed by freshman teammate Frances Kim, who finished in a four-way tie at 71, but claimed the runner-up spot in a card-off.
Nine players tied for the final qualifying spots and eight advanced on the first playoff hole.
