Two men’s doubles teams reached the semifinals at the California Beach Volleyball Association’s Manhattan Beach Open on Saturday at the Manhattan Pier.

Jordon Dyer/Dylan Foreman won their pool and advanced to the semifinals, where they fell to Alexander Biz/Leor Schiffer, 28-14. In the other semifinal, Ric Cervantes/Jonah Seif fell to eventual champions Billy Allen/Paul Lotman, 28-10. Allen Lotman won the final 29-27.

The East Beach team of Will Rottman/Jack Walmer fell in the quarterfinals against Allen/Lottman, 28-25.

In the Women’s Open at Manhattan Beach, Santa Barbara’s Emma Zuffelato/Olivia Medina won their pool and first playoff game before coming up short against Cal Poly teammates Maddy Byrne/Quinn Perry, 30-28. Zuffelato also is a member of the Cal Poly beach team while Medina, formerly of SBCC, plays at Concordia University.

In action at East Beach over the weekend, the CBVA held a 16-under age-group qualifying event for the Cal Cup and an AVP Youth Championship. In the boys final, the San Luis Obispo area team of Sebastian Azua-Hawthorne defeated Santa Barbara’s Logan Clark/Cash Phillips, 28-17.

In a battle of out-of-state teams, Ella Whiteside/Olivia Ledoyen beat Sofia and Sicily Ventimiglia, 28-22, for the title.

Last weekend, East Beach hosted CBVA Men’s AA and Women’s B tournaments.

The AA was won by the local team of Brendan McCay/Alessio Signorini over Nate Rogers/Andrew Nielsen, 28-25. The winners earned their “AAA” rating on the beach.

Dos Pueblos alum Danica Minnich and partner Brooke Downes won their “A” rating with a 28-17 final title win over Sophie Ward/Brooklynn Anderson.
