The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce will present the preliminary research findings conference for The Thriving Youth Study (TYS), a community-engaged participatory action research project led by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC).
The conference will be 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at Dick DeWees Community and Senior Center in Lompoc.
The event is organized in partnership with Future for Lompoc Youth, Future Leaders of America, The Fund for Santa Barbara, Allan Hancock College, and the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Over the past several months, students from Allan Hancock College, along with high school students from Lompoc and Santa Maria, have collaborated with UCLA researchers to design and distribute a comprehensive survey.
The survey targeted the student population at Allan Hancock College, as well as community members from Santa Maria and Lompoc.
The goal of the study is to gather valuable insights that will help local institutions develop educational, employment, civic, and health-related programs, inform grassroots campaigns, and shape local and statewide policy.
We invite all community members to join us at this conference to learn from researchers and project partners. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a data gallery walk, providing an interactive and engaging way to explore the findings.
