Lompoc Valley residents are invited to a community workshop to provide thoughts on future public transit and mobility options.

The City of Lompoc Transit (COLT) workshops will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Dick DeWees and Community Center, 1120 W. Ocean Ave. Attendees may choose from the 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. workshop times. Free rides to/from the sessions can be arranged by calling 805-736-7666.

At the events, the Lompoc Transit Future project team will present results from recent community outreach activities, including the community survey and transit rider surveys.

The team will also discuss examples of mobility-enhancing projects underway in other California communities including on-demand service (similar to Uber or Lyft), bike sharing, and car sharing.

Workshop participants will be invited to share their preferences and priorities regarding potential future public transit/mobility options.

Each workshop will last about an hour, and refreshments will be provided. Additional workshop details can be found at LompocTransitFuture.com.

“These workshops offer a valuable opportunity for residents of the Lompoc Valley (whether you use public transit or not) to help shape the future of mobility in the valley,” said Richard Fernbaugh, aviation/transportation administrator for the City of Lompoc.

Using community feedback from the workshops, the Lompoc Transit Future project team will develop a short list of service options that will be presented during a second round of community workshops tentatively slated for September.

COLT provides public transit service in Lompoc, Mission Hills, and Vandenberg Village. Service to the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara is also provided.

Free trip planning assistance is available by calling 805-736-7666.
