As of May 29, dispatch services for the Lompoc City Fire Department are now handled by the Santa Barbara County Regional Fire Communications Center (RFCC).
The transition marks a significant improvement in emergency response coordination for the region, the Lompoc City Fire Department said.
Previously, fire dispatch services were provided through the Lompoc City Police Department.
While the Police Department will continue to serve as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for all emergency calls in Lompoc, any calls requiring fire or emergency medical services will now be seamlessly transferred to the RFCC for further handling, police said.
The RFCC will conduct emergency medical dispatching for all medical-related calls, providing callers with critical pre-arrival instructions until first responders are on the scene.
“The Lompoc City Fire Department is proud of its ongoing collaboration with local law enforcement and deeply appreciates their support throughout this transition,” said Lompoc City Fire Chief Brian Fallon.
“The partnership represents a major step forward for public safety in both Lompoc and Santa Barbara County,” the Fire Department said.
Calls to Lompoc Fire Department’s non-emergency line, 805-736-4513, are answered by administrative staff during regular business hours.
After hours, callers may leave a voicemail if immediate attention is needed. In an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
