The American Association of University Women (AAUW) and North County Rape Crisis Center (NCRCC) invite the community to a welcome-back reception for the Pedal the Pacific Team, 5:45 p.m., Monday, July 15 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1201 N. H St., Lompoc.
The participating young women are completing a 1,700-mile bike ride from Seattle, Washington, to San Diego, California, to raise awareness and funds for the fight against human trafficking.
“These women, who are biking 1,700 miles to raise awareness for the fight against human trafficking, will amaze and inspire all who hear their message,” said Ann McCarty, NCRCC executive director.
Those attending the reception will hear firsthand accounts from the Pedal the Pacific Team about their journey; gain insights into new local efforts to combat human trafficking; and enjoy a casual evening with pizza, salad and dessert.
July 10 is the deadline to buy tickets for the reception. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased online at https://myimpact.sbcountyrapecrisis.org/event/pedal-the-pacific-community-reception/e596300.
Pedal the Pacific is a cycling organization empowering young women to raise awareness and funds to combat human trafficking. Since 2017, they have cycled over 1,700 miles annually and raised over $500,000 for the anti-trafficking movement.
