Lompoc Indivisible will partner with May Day Strong to host a peaceful Labor Day demonstration to take a stand for America’s working people and their families, noon-2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1 at the corner of North H Street and East Central Avenue.
The demonstration will be held in honor of #SolidaritySeptember Labor Day Kickoff.
Lompoc Indivisible works to organize and energize the local community to stand strong for protection, rights and prosperity for all, the organization said.
Lompoc Indivisible joins hundreds of other organizations across the country that are fighting the attacks on fair access to due process, protection of Medicaid, Social Security and Medicare, public education, health care, housing, and the right to vote.
“We encourage everyone to bring their friends and families out to show our community that we are rising up together, united, fighting for the rights and freedoms of all people,” said Tracy Van Wie, Lompoc Indivisible event organizer.
Lompoc Indivisible maintains its strong commitment to peaceful demonstration and assembly. The demonstration will be on public sidewalks that must be always kept free for pedestrians.
Participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes, bring water, hats and sunscreen, along with a cheerful heart and loud voice. Make your own sign or there will be a sign loan library where you can choose your favorite slogan.
There will be an organizer table where attendees can sign up or make a donation. Lompoc Indivisible hats, shirts, buttons and resource material can also be found there.
