The Lompoc Public Library and the Village Library have nearly 40 different early literacy book bundles available in English and Spanish for patrons to borrow with their library card.
The bundles, previously known as “read together kits,” each contain three to six picture or board books and an informational sheet all in one bag. These bags are ideal for parents and early-learning providers to share with babies, toddlers and preschoolers in group or one-on-one settings.
Themes of the early literacy book bundles include shapes and colors, sound and movement, animals, nature, food, families, feelings, friendship, communities, school, counting, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics). These kits are available thanks to funding by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
Placing a hold on the bundles is recommended to ensure patrons get the bundle they want. Holds can be placed by calling the library at (805)-875-8775 or by going online to the Lompoc Library catalog at lom.blackgold.org, searching “book bundle” and then clicking the “place hold” button.
