A Santa Barbara man has been arrested in Lompoc on suspicion of committing unlawful sex acts with a minor, police said.

In October, the Lompoc Police Department learned about allegations involving the grooming of an underage female by an adult male leading to unlawful sexual acts occurring over several years, according to Sgt. Scott Morgan.

Through an investigation, 47-year-old Ricardo Romero was identified as the suspect, Morgan added.

Detectives obtained a search and arrest warrant for Romero on multiple felony charges, including sodomy and contacting a minor to commit a felony, Morgan said.

On Wednesday morning, Lompoc police detectives located and arrested Romero in Lompoc.

He was booked into jail custody with bail set at $100,000.

Lompoc police detectives asked that any additional victims or anyone with more information related to the allegations contact Detective Renner by calling 805.736.2341.
