The death of a man who appeared to have injuries from an assault has become a homicide investigation in Lompoc. 

On Saturday afternoon, officers from the Lompoc Police Department responded to a report of a death investigation in the 400 block of North I Street. 

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased individual with injuries consistent with an assault,” Sgt. Scott Morgan said Sunday evening. “During the preliminary investigation, officers identified evidence that led them to the 400 block of North G Street.”

Lompoc police detectives assumed responsibility for the investigation and are continuing to process the scene, canvass the area, and follow up on leads related to the incident, Morgan said. 

This investigation remains active and ongoing, he added.

The name of the victim, a Lompoc man in his 50s, will be released after family members have been notified.
