A Lompoc police officer was injured after a crash involving two department vehicles on Thursday during a search for a wanted man.
At 11:49 a.m., officers from the Lompoc Police Department assisted a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive apprehension team on the 800 block of North A Street in Lompoc, police Sgt. Scott Morgan said.
A wanted male subject was running from the apprehension team so Lompoc officers arrived to assist, Morgan added.
During the incident, two city of Lompoc police vehicles were involved in a collision, reportedly injuring a motorcycle officer.
The injured officer, whose name was not released, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The male subject sought in the law enforcement operation was arrested. Police did not name the subject or the reason he was sought by U.S. Marshals.
California Highway Patrol officers were investigating the collision.
