The city of Lompoc has released a revised draft of the 2023-31 general plan
housing element update.

This release comes after the city presented a draft housing element to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for review on May 11, starting a 90-day state review period.

The city expects to receive formal comments from the state by Aug. 9. The draft revised housing element addresses preliminary comments made during the state’s 90-day review period. After the required seven-day public posting period is complete, Lompoc will submit this draft revision to the state.

Revisions of the updated draft address preliminary feedback and questions (available to view as part of this updated draft) that the state of California provided related to various housing topics. No new housing sites were added to the city’s housing inventory.

The draft 2023-31 housing element update must accommodate 2,248 new housing units within the city of Lompoc between the years of 2023 and 2031.

The plan includes city policies and programs for the development, rehabilitation and preservation of housing units. One property is being considered for a rezone to meet the required number of housing units.

The next opportunity for public participation on the Housing Element Update will be at a Lompoc Planning Commission public hearing tentatively scheduled for Sept. 13.
