The Lompoc Rotary Club donated more than 300 pounds of canned and dried goods to the Lompoc Food Pantry in September, the result of a month-long food drive in honor of Rotary International’s Month of Service campaign.

“Rotary as a community service organization combined with the generosity of the town was proud to provide 358 pounds of food,” said Ruth Moran-Shepard, Lompoc Rotary Club president.
From Aug. 16-Sept. 16, Lompoc Rotarians set out boxes at Inklings Printing Co. and South Side Coffee Company in Lompoc to collect donated goods from the public, as well as brought canned goods and long-lasting items to club meetings and socials.
For the final day of the drive, Lompoc Rotary, along with members of Lompoc’s Interact Club – a youth-based philanthropic organization mentored by Lompoc Rotary, partnered with Grocery Outlet, collecting donations from local shoppers. The food was then delivered to the Lompoc Food Pantry.
On Sept. 30, Lompoc Rotarians then met at the “Lompoc Valley in Bloom 2009-2019” mural outside Lompoc Airport. They cleared overgrowth of bushes and weeds, and repainted faded areas to make the mural welcoming again for people entering Lompoc from the north.
In 2025 Lompoc Rotary will be celebrating its 100th anniversary as a service club for the Lompoc Valley community. The club meets at 6 p.m. each Wednesday at Events Mission Valley, and welcomes visitors.
