The application filing deadline has been extended for the Lompoc Youth in Government Program.
Applications for this new program that aims to help engage local youth in city government must now be filed by Tuesday, Feb. 20. Previously, the deadline was Jan. 31. The extension was made to allow time for additional participants to register.
The goal of the Lompoc Youth in Government Program is to provide an opportunity for participants to develop an awareness of how the city functions and serves its citizens. The program is open to all Lompoc Valley high school students.
This first Lompoc Youth in Government Program will be conducted over four days – April 10, 11, 16, and 17, and will give students the ability to job-shadow Lompoc City Council members or city leadership staff. In addition, participants will participate in a mock youth city council meeting.
