A female pedestrian died early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Lompoc. The driver has been arrested. 

At approximately 1:50 a.m., Lompoc police and firefighters were dispatched to the 600 block of West Ocean Avenue for a report of an incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle, police Sgt. Scott Morgan said.

They found a 42-year-old woman in the roadway and say it appeared that she had been struck by a vehicle, Morgan said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, he added.

Officers found the suspected driver of the vehicle that struck the woman nearby.

Angela Rose Cline, 31, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, causing great bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, police said. 

The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
