Lon Miller

Lon Miller passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Vista, California, on June 29, 2026.

Lon was born to Ray and Lois Miller in Corvallis, Oregon, re-located to Kansas, and when he was 11 years old, the family moved to Goleta.

Lon attended Cathedral Oaks Elementary, La Colina Junior High, and after graduating from San Marcos Senior High School he went to Santa Barbara City College, University of California Santa Barbara, and the University of San Diego.

Lon is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, MaryAnne (Stewart); daughter Murissa and Robert Paramore; son Greg, Tiffany and Russell Miller; brother Herb Miller (Teri); sister Paula Menna (Lou); numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Wayne and cherished friends.

While growing up in Goleta, Lon delivered papers for the now defunct Santa Barbara News-Press, was an avid surfer at Campus Point, Depressions, Sands and Haskell beaches, and always had a passion for woodworking.

Lon and MaryAnne moved to Oceanside, California, while attending school in San Diego. After graduation Lon began his career as a special education teacher in the Vista Unified School District until his retirement in 2009. Vista was his home.

He raised two children to adulthood and loved his many dogs. His greatest joy and legacy is his first grandchild Russell.
