Lorraine M. Battaglia

Lorraine M. Battaglia, age 91, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2026, on a day that held special meaning — the birthday of her beloved mother.

Born in March 1934 in Havre, Montana, Lorraine was the daughter of Emmett Moore and Madeline Griffith Moore Anderson, and sister to Laverne “Bud” Moore.

Raised in rural Washington, she cherished time spent on her grandparents’ wheat farm in Reardan and fishing trips to Priest Lake, Idaho, a treasured place she returned to year after year.

First shared with her by her grandparents, Priest Lake became a beloved Battaglia-Moore-Anderson family tradition that she lovingly carried forward, now continuing into its fifth generation.

Lorraine was a proud graduate of Seattle University, from which she embarked on a teaching career that took her to California and abroad, including a memorable year on a U.S. Army base in Germany.

In 1962, she met and married Philip Battaglia, and together they raised four children.

Fully devoted to her family, she centered her life on nurturing and supporting her children, intentionally creating a rich and well-rounded life, from ranch life adventures to 4-H, Pony Club, Youth Group, music lessons, and countless sports and school activities.

Raising her children was her proudest and most cherished role.

A lifelong horsewoman, Lorraine loved her twice daily rides and time spent outdoors amongst her animals, surrounding wildlife and wildflowers.

She rode well into her 80s, treasuring the special friendships she formed through her riding groups, particularly Sage Hens, with whom she shared countless, memorable horse camping trips. Until the end, she never stopped hoping to find another perfect horse.

Lorraine also found joy and lasting friendships during her 45 years with the Hardy Girls and always had the first Monday of each month marked on her calendar.

Most of all Lorraine will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her wise and gentle nature, her quiet wit and humor, and her ability to embrace each day with selfless grace.

Lorraine is survived by her children Karen, Steve, Kristen (Andrew Murray), and Scott; cherished grandchildren Callum, Estelle, Sierra, Lily, Zoe and Braeden; sister-in-law Bernie Moore; and extended Battaglia-Moore-Anderson family, all of whom miss her dearly.

A family graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard, California.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Priest Lake Memory Garden or Solvang Friendship House.
