The Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons hosted a large USTA (United States Tennis Association) junior tennis tournament this past weekend in the Santa Barbara area.  The tournament was played at three local tennis facilities: Elings Park, Santa Barbara high school, and the Municipal Tennis Center.  110 players (ages 11-18) from all parts of the state of California participated including 40 players from Santa Barbara. The top results from local players were:

Huxley McGetrick, champion of the boys 14 year old singles division
Sophia Ostovany, finalist in the girls 18 year old singles division
Luca Ostovany, finalist in the boys 18 year old singles division

“We were very pleased with the turnout.  It is great to see our local juniors compete against their peers from all across the state,” said Greg Tebbe, executive director of the Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons.  “Tournament director Danny Echt did an amazing job and we appreciate the support we received from the local tennis community, especially from Eilings Park and the Santa Barbara school district for allowing us to use their tennis facilities without which this tournament could not take place.”
The Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons is a local nonprofit and they plan to help run 14 junior and adult tennis tournaments in the Santa Barbara area in 2022.  For more information please go to Tennis Patrons’ website at www.sbtennispatrons.com.
