Lynnette Wright McCoy was born on Nov. 19, 1943, in Santa Barbara to Chester and Hope Wright.

Lynnette grew up on the Westside of Santa Barbara, off Modoc Road, in a large farmhouse surrounded by orchards. There, she shared a lively childhood with her three older siblings, sisters Laureldean Wright Waugh and Gwendolyn Wright Covington, and brother Clinton Wright.

Lynnette fully embraced the outdoor lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. She loved hiking, backpacking, downhill and cross-country skiing, and swimming in alpine lakes.

Professionally, Lynnette worked for many years in the computer room at the Alcoa plant in Wenatchee. After becoming single again, she built another home before eventually returning to Santa Barbara. There, she worked at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she later retired.
