Maggi Daane

Longtime Santa Maria Valley volunteer and philanthropist Maggi Daane has been elected to a two-year term as president of the Allan Hancock College Foundation Board of Directors. Daane joined the foundation’s board in 2017.

“Maggi Daane is a tireless advocate for education in our community,” said Jon Hooten, Hancock executive director of College Advancement. “As our new board chair, she will provide excellent leadership as we continue providing scholarships and the Hancock Promise to the communities we serve.”

“It’s an honor to be selected as the foundation’s next board chair,” said Daane. “I look forward to continuing to promote the great work of the foundation for the benefit of the students it supports. We have important work ahead of us.” 

Daane also serves on the Santa Barbra County Board of Education. She has served on the Santa Maria Valley Industry Education Council, as president of the Volunteer Auxiliary Board Marian Regional Medical Center, and as chair of the research committee and fund steering committee for the Women’s Fund of Northern Santa Barbara County.

She is a former member of the CASA Board of Directors, member of Orcutt Children’s Arts Foundation, and has been involved in fundraising efforts for CALM, North County Rape Crisis and Children’s Center, Santa Maria Valley Boys and Girls Club, Santa Maria Valley YMCA, and the North County Special Olympics. 

Daane was the 2020 honoree of the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Celebrate Philanthropy event and has been recognized as a Woman of Excellence by the Santa Maria Valley Women’s Network. 

Other officers on the foundation board include Judith Dale, vice president; Debra Hood, secretary; and  Judy Frost, treasurer. The board of directors includes some 25 community members from the Santa Maria, Lompoc and Santa Ynez valleys.
