Elings Park’s main entrance will be closed to vehicular traffic Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4-5 due to the repaving of Las Positas Road. Las Positas Tennis Courts, also accessed from Las Positas Road, are closed for the weekend. Pedestrian walkways remain open throughout the park, which can be also entered via trailheads off Cliff Drive.

The closure is due to ongoing construction of the Las Positas/Modoc Road Multiuse Path Project, a 2.6- mile separated multiuse pathway that includes Las Positas Road from Modoc Road to Cliff Drive.

Roadwork began in late September 2020 with an estimated 18-month construction timeline. The project includes a new traffic light at the park entrance, and improved pedestrian and bike access to the park with a new bridge linking to trails in the Arroyo Burro Open Space across Las Positas Road from the park.

The new pathway provides a connection to the Coast Bike Route, allowing riders to bike from the Santa Barbara Waterfront all the way to Goleta Beach.
