Four people were injured, two critically, in a collision Saturday near Orcutt involving a big-rig and a sedan, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Telephone Road and Clark Avenue, near the Lake Marie neighborhood east of Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two people in a Honda Accord suffered major injuries, and had to be extricated from the wreckage, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.

Two other people suffered minor to moderate injuries.

One male patient was taken by AMR ambulance to the Santa Maria Airport, and subsequently flown by Calstar medical helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The others who were hurt were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

The CHP said the Honda reportedly was driving recklessly prior to the collision.

The big-rig’s trailer was full of crude oil, according to the CHP, but there was no spill.

The crash was under investigation by the CHP.
