One person was critically injured Friday evening in a single-vehicle crash southeast of Santa Maria, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The rollover crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m. in the area of Dominion Road and Palmer Road, fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said.

The victim was trapped beneath the pickup truck, which came to rest on its side, Bertucelli said.

Major extrication was required to free the person from the wreckage.

The patient was airlifted by a Calstar medical helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.

The person’s name and details on their condition were not available.

The crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
