A male juvenile was taken to the hospital Thursday evening after being shot at a residence in Orcutt, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies, county firefighters and an AMR ambulance were dispatched shortly before 6:30 p.m. to the home on the 800 block of Brookside Avenue, Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer, told Noozhawk.
The victim suffered a single gunshot wound reportedly to the chest, Zick said.
Details about how he was wounded were not released Thursday night.
The boy was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, Zick said. His name and details on his condition were not available.
“Detectives are investigating, and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public,” Zick added.
