A 72-year-old man who was trapped by the rising tide on the beach in Isla Vista was rescued Tuesday night, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Two men who were attempting to assist the victim called 9-1-1 to summon help, and firefighters responded to the scene below Del Playa Drive near Camino Pescadero, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
“Two firefighter rescue swimmers entered the hazardous area and physically assisted the altered man up the beach and stair access to the ambulance for assessment,” Safechuck said.
The man was taken to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital for evaluation.
His name and details on his condition were not available.
