A man was airlifted to a Santa Barbara hospital late Wednesday night after being shot in Santa Maria, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
Officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. to the report of a shooting in the area of Colebrook Drive and Barrington Drive in the northwest part of the city.
They found a male adult who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso, police said.
He was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, then flown by Calstar helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
His name and details on his condition were not available.
Police said no suspect information was available.
Detectives are asking that any witnesses to the shooting contact them at 805.928.3781, ext. 2277.
It was the third shooting in four days in Santa Maria, after a man and a juvenile were wounded in apparently unrelated incidents on Sunday.
