Manuel Jimenez

It is with great sadness that we share our beloved brother Manuel (Dia) Jimenez passed away on Friday Oct. 13 2023.

He is survived by his son Keith Jimenez; siblings Yolanda (Genaro) Salazar, Jesse (Bonnie) Jimenez, Mary (Dimas) Jimenez, Mary (Jesse) Jimenez; and his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Manuel and Bernalda Jimenez; sister Libby Ann; and brother Peter Jimenez.

Manuel was born on Aug. 16, 1952 in Santa Barbara. He attended Goleta Union Elementary School, Goleta Valley Jr. High, and Dos Pueblos High School.

He went on to work for Channel Paper Company for many years until they closed. He then got hired at Goleta Union School District as a maintenance worker. He retired early, but remained actively working for various construction companies, most recently Dimas Vasquez Landscapes and Design.

Manuel was an avid baseball player playing for DPHS as a second baseman. He went onto play for several Santa Barbara leagues, then coached women’s slow pitch softball. He closed out his career umpiring for Santa Barbara Little League, in which his son Keith played for.

Manuel lived life to the fullest. He loved deeply and was always ready to have a good time. His infectious smile, one-of-a-kind laugh and outgoing personality were unmatched.

His greatest joy was his son Keith, who he loved dearly and beamed with pride when he spoke of him. Manuel enjoyed going on adventures with Keith, like their trip to New York City and Canada. Nothing tops their last adventure together when he went to visit Keith at his home in Sacramento.

Manuel enjoyed exploring new places and cheering on his favorite sports teams like Dodgers and San Francisco 49ers. You could always catch Manny dancing, laughing, or sharing stories of great times of the past.

We will always remember him for the cheerful, funny and loving family man he was. On behalf of Keith and the Jimenez family, thank you to everyone who has extended their condolences and support, it is greatly appreciated.

Loved ones are invited to join for a viewing, 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Oct. 30 at McDermott-Crockett Mortuary, 2020 Chapala St., Santa Barbara. A celebration of life will follow, 1-5 p.m. at 1581 San Roque Road, Santa Barbara.
