Mariana Covarrubias passed away in the comfort of her home and entered into eternal peace on June 12, 2023. Mariana was born on April 2, 1928 in Clarkdale, Arizona.

Although she was mostly a homemaker, Mariana was employed  at the Sunkist Lemon Processing Center – Quality control in Santa Barbara in the early 1950s.

Some of Mariana’s passions included going to visit relatives in Cañadas de Obregón, Jalisco, Mexico. She enjoyed going to yard sales and the 99-Cent Only Store on a weekly basis.

Mariana was preceded in death by her  husband Esteban Covarrubias (December 2012); and her siblings Alfonso Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez and Braulia Galindo “Chata.”

Mariana is survived by her seven children Yolanda Torres, Esteban Covarrubias Jr., Olga Covarrubias, Guadalupe Covarrubias, Alberto Covarrubias, Alfredo Covarrubias, and Carlos Covarrubias; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Assisted Hospice Care team.You are an amazing group of people and we appreciate all of your care and support.

A special thank you to Mariana’s son Carlos Covarrubias for all his love, care and special attention to all of Mariana’s needs. Another special thank you to Nancy Weiss for all your support throughout the years.

Loving Father, take this message to our dearest mother up above. We understand that an angel came, called her name and took her by the hand. We will always hold our fondest memories of her close to our hearts.

Services for Mariana Covarrubias will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20; mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21; and graveside service will follow mass at Goleta Cemetery.
